AGT News Release

Long Driver wins the Atlanta Classic at River Pines.

A young man playing out of Springbrook Country Club in Lawrenceville, GA shoots a net 3 under par to capture his first event of the year. Richard Tate a native of Marrianna, FL takes his A+ game to a difficult par 71 North Fulton golf course on an extremely windy day and turns all heads at River Pines. Does Richard have what it takes to qualify for the Bell South Classic with the PGA or is he going to continue to play on the AGT? No one knows at this time, however there are rumors he will show up at the Byron Nelson Classic at Country Land G.C. in Cumming, GA May 18th. I spoke with Richard After the match and he said, "I drove all the Fairways down the middle and on 17 I hit a low draw into the wind." Well, 17 was the hole the AGT designated as the long drive and Richard must have blasted an outstanding drive because this par 5 was playing into the wind all day long. Tiger look out.&127;

How close is close?

Do we think our iron play needs practice, I think so. Hole number 5 at River Pines proved to be a challenge for everyone except for a new member who placed his 165 yard shot approximately 20 or 30 yards, that’s right AGT I said yards, from the pin. Brent Featherstone from Snellville, GA treks all the way to Alpharetta to sneak in a 20 or 30 yarder to win closest to the pin. AGT beware, this was Brents first qualifying event and must play one more event to pursue a championship. We expect great things from this sharpshooter.&127;
