Beautiful Orchard Hills Golf Club.
Another great AGC British Open Championship at Orchard Hills Golf Club.
Many thanks to Wyatt Detmer, Club Pro at Orchard Hills, and his staff for allowing us to have a very successful tournament. Orchard Hills Golf Club was in fantastic shape. The Grounds crew has done a great job! The greens were in perfect shape. Amazing considering the weather we have had for the last several months. Those members last year who played in the first AGC British Open may remember the wet and windy weather the golf lords inflicted on the field. This year's conditions at Orchard Hills came in a different form, heat. The dog days of summer are here and playing in heat can bring the same challenge as the rain. Nevertheless, the field prevailed and the tournament was a total success.

Robby Adams and Dan Frederick look mighty happy to be here. Of course Robby was happy to be anywhere after the way his morning started out. Robby spun his car four times on the interstate on the way to the tournament. Luckily no one was hurt and there was no damage.
Don Johnson, a new AGC member, wins the 1998 AGC British Open and his first AGC Major.
Don Johnson is presented a nice trophy and a $100 gift certificate by Matt Freeman. Don played some great golf to come in with a net 66. Way to go Don. This was Don's first time with us. Thanks Don!

Please sign our guest book and give us your thoughts and ideas.
Please return entry forms before deadline.
It helps us tremendously at the AGC if the entry forms are in before the deadline. It also allows the participating golf course to schedule their weekend. We can accommodate some late entries, however, if you have our tournament marked on your calendar please send us the entry form early. Thanks.

Play Hard! USGA Rules.
Ball dropped in area where original ball lost; ball then played.
A player, unable to find his ball, drops another ball in the area where his original ball was lost and plays that ball. What is the ruling?
In stroke play, the player incurs the stroke-and-distance penalty prescribed by 27-1 and an additional penalty of two strokes for a breach of that Rule. If the breach is a serious one, he must rectify the error as provided in the second paragraph of Rule 20-7b; otherwise, he is disqualified.
Meaning of "Serious Breach"
When is playing from a wrong place a "serious breach?"
A serious breach has occurred when a player proceeds otherwise than in the accordance with the Rules and, in the opinion of the committee, either gains a significant advantage or negotiates a significant distance without making a stroke.
Rule 20-7b
If, after playing from a wrong place, a competitor becomes aware of that fact and believes that a serious breach may be involved, he may, provided he has not played a stroke from the next teeing ground or, in the case of the last hole of the round, left the putting green, declare that he will play out the hole with a second ball dropped or placed in accordance with the Rules. The competitor shall report the facts to the committee before returning his score card; if he fails to do so, he shall be disqualified. The committee shall determine whether a serious breach of the Rule occurred. If so, the score with the second ball shall count and the competitor shall add two penalty strokes to his score with that ball.
If a serious breach has occurred and the competitor has failed to correct it as prescribed above, he shall be disqualified.
